To me, i think the science is a long ways from showing any benefits. CoQ10 is a very interesting anti-oxidant, and also serves a HUGE role in mitochondrial metabolism where its ability to function as an electron acceptor and donor makes it crucial for energy generation. So yes, I do think there might be a role for Q10 in ultrarunning, but it might be more important in maintaining efficient energy metabolism than providing antioxidant defenses. I will try to put some coherant thoughts together on the topic.Everyone calls me Toehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10769317308401701408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1137426372151737908.post-56501057243938880272011-12-17T10:12:34.801-08:002011-12-17T10:12:34.801-08:00Hey Toe, i loved this post and have read similar p...Hey Toe, i loved this post and have read similar pros and cons to taking antioxidants...i personally take quite a few of them because of the health benefits claimed from so many studies and sources for general health...especially longevity..just watched a lecture discussing coq10 and carnosine (as well as omega-3s) preventing telomeres from shortening thereby increasing longiveity of cells, for example...(btw they also mentioned that low intensity aerobic exercise like ultrarunning increase telomeres, which is of course a good thing). i actually do notice many anti-aging differences by taking them....so we shall see... i wanted to see if you know or have done any research on D-ribose? have been getting great results with this...increased stamina, and decreased soreness...etc..martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07334380280217276695noreply@blogger.com
